An emergency escape plan is not required for all businesses; however, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) recommends building an emergency action plan to protect yourself, your employees and your business during an emergency. OSHA suggests the following steps when developing such a plan.

• Vacuum glass particles from carpets and upholstery in the affected area.

The Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC) creates the standards for the restoration industry and provides training and certification to restoration companies. IICRC Certified Firms have the right to display the IICRC Certified Logo.

• Require a technician on all jobs who has been formally trained and passed all required tests.
